Thornside Coastal Residence – Facade Upgrade

This Thornside residence enjoys spectacular ocean views but suffered from a dated facade that didn't reflect the home's premium location or the lifestyle of its owners. Our clients approached Quorum Studios seeking a contemporary transformation that would elevate the street presence while maximizing the connection to those stunning coastal vistas.

As Brisbane architects specializing in luxury home design and residential renovations, we reimagined the home's street facade with a sophisticated contemporary aesthetic that balances privacy, natural light, and architectural presence. The solution features crisp white rendered walls creating a clean, modern canvas, complemented by vertical timber battening that provides texture, depth, and passive solar control. Integrated planter boxes with cascading greenery soften the architecture and enhance the subtropical context, while the material palette responds to Brisbane's climate while maintaining a refined, timeless appearance.

Because the facade upgrade directly impacted the master bedroom, we extended the design to create a cohesive interior-exterior relationship. The master suite now features floor-to-ceiling timber screening that filters natural light while maintaining privacy, alongside a warm, natural material palette with timber floors and soft neutral tones. Custom built-in joinery maximizes storage and functionality, while large windows and window seats capture the ocean views and create contemplative spaces for the owners to enjoy. The ensuite upgrade incorporates contemporary finishes that complement the bedroom's aesthetic, ensuring a seamless design language throughout.
